SCHOOL HISTORY

Amang Rodriguez Elementary School first came into existence in 1969. It was named Amang in honor of its donor, no less than the late Eulogio Rodriguez, ex – governor of Rizal. Amang was used in lieu of his first name since there was already a school in Pasig named after Eulogio, However, this 2015.4 square meter – lot was registered under the name of People’s Homesite and Housing Corporation (PHHC) as its owner and was later recognized as its donor.

The first school building was situated along the then so – called Cuatro Cantos, known as C. Arellano Street. The school had its annex building located in Tuazon Street. It was a four – room rented building housing Grades I – IV classes. In 1975, a Pre – fabricated Marcos type building with six (6) rooms was constructed. Two years later, another Marcos – type building with additional three (3) classrooms was built. However, its first occupancy was in 1978.

From 1969 – 1978, Amang Rodriguez Elementary School had been a part of Malabon I District. In 1979, it was put under the jurisdiction of Malabon III District.

In 1987, the 2 – storey, 8 – classroom Rodriguez type building was built. Because one of the two Marcos type buildings was dilapidated, there came into existence the Vicencio building in 2003. To date, Marcos Type Building was still housing the Grade I and II classes.

The demolition of the old Rodriguez Type Building was pushed through in 2012, thus paving the way for the construction of two makeshift classrooms to house the Grade IV and V classes. In 2013, however, the aforementioned emergency rooms were demolished, and instead, two Porta Classrooms were constructed and are still being used as Grade III and IV classrooms. Moreover, the ancillary, rooms such as the clinic, guidance center and library are also used as classrooms.

The teaching staff is comprised of thirty five (40) teachers, four of them being master teachers. As a child friendly-school, Amang Rodriguez Elementary School conducts Health and safety measures. To name a few, the school has free feeding to severely malnourished pupils and regular fire and earthquake drills. Priority Improvement Projects were focused on physical facilities development, like the improvement of the classroom conditions and repair of school equipment. Likewise, academic and capability building programs such as Project P.O.W.E.R. (Proficiency of Words Empowering Readers), R.E.A.D., SLAC/INSET, Professional meetings and special trainings are continuously being implemented.

Local Government Units serve as external stakeholders who extend financial assistance to raise funds for the co-curricular, extra-curricular and other major activities, such as school related meetings and assemblies. These include the Malabon City and Barangay Baritan Officials.
